Jerry Bridges is an author whose books have had a big impact on me at different times. As a student I read and was really challenged by "The Pursuit of Holiness". Some years later I was encouraged by "Transforming Grace". I read "Trusting God even when Life Hurts" in 2003. It was a difficult year for us when our future was unclear and circumstances seemed unfair. Bridges is constantly Biblical and argues that we will never trust God unless we believe three things about Him: that He is in complete sovereign control; that he is perfectly wise; and that his plans for us are truly loving. Reading this book helped me to regain this Biblical perspective at a time when I really needed it.
