No typical weeks

Galway City Baptist Church is 9 ½ years young but has very few typical weeks. As a ‘baby fellowship' it desires to have a 24/7 worship service in a youthful city that professes to never sleep. Worship begins on Sunday with tea and coffee and ends with the beginning of tea and coffee seven days later - seven days of worship! The week is spent among Galwegians; directing directors in hospitals or as a volunteer directing people to their destinations within the hospital; volunteering to help take elderly to the supermarket; tutoring; and helping single parent families. Sometimes worshiping while on the golf course, with others worshiping while on the dole; playing on tag rugby and football teams or in the fitness centre - always seeking to walk with a living Christ in a city that sleeps spiritually 24/7.

Keeping busy!

Although we probably have fewer activities than many churches, they include: Sunday school for children and youth; Kidz and Youth Klubs; biweekly Dinner/DVD/Discussion evenings for university age young adults; individual discipleship meetings with women, men, and family members as well as for the church at large. There is also a monthly women's breakfast and an erratic but well loved men's activity or breakfast! Every two weeks the leaders meet for prayer together with a weekly leaders meeting.

Some good ideas!

There is, on average, a weekly gathering of 57 people on Sunday mornings and we have a weekly Wednesday evening prayer and Bible study. On top of this. many in the fellowship work in creative ways at allowing their individual worlds to see Jesus - meeting people while taking the bus instead of the car; inviting neighbours for tea and special seasonal occasions; joining weekly mum's and toddlers play groups or others at the gym and pool; and weekly visits at coffee houses - all part of our approach to witness and worship 24 hours a day/7 days a week worship in the very needy city of Galway.

We would value your prayers that as the seed is sown, a harvest will result for God's glory.
